Jeffreys BayThe little seaside town of Jeffreys Bay is 80km from Port Elizabeth and a favourite destination for beach lovers, adventure seekers and surfers. During the summer months of December and January it swells in size and adopts a holiday fever atmosphere sure to give anyone that great summer feeling.  During the winter months it becomes surfer's paradise with all and sundry in surf lingo and on wave lookout duty!

The beach

Jeffreys Bay Jeffreys Bay has endless beaches which call out for long walks or whole days of beach bumming. The main beach, Dolphin Beach, is a hop and skip from 99 Miles.  It's Blue Flag  status means it is both clean and safe to swim. In peak season life guards are ever present and a birds eye view would be one of a melange of different colour umbrellas, bikinis and people haveing fun.  When not chilling, look out for the thousands of shells on the beach that beg to be collected for special memories.

Glorious weather

Jeffreys Bay Jeffreys Bay, or J-Bay as it is affectionately called, is part of the Sunshine Coast, so called as this region has more sunshine hours than any other. Our gloriously temperate climate has a mere 5-degree midday difference between summer and winter, with a summer maximum average temp of 27 degrees and minimum average temp of 19 degrees. The summers are warm with a very temperate humidity level. Winters are mild and pleasant. Water sports are possible throughout the year.

Dolphins and whales

Jeffreys Bay Dolphins are regularly sighted in the bay. Southern Right whales visit between July and September and put on a show for anyone watching from the shore.

Surfing

Jeffreys Bay J-bay is home to the perfect wave! Between May and August each year, the low pressure systems that moves across the Cape, generate a swell that rolls around the headland of Cape St Francis and into Jeffreys Bay, creating what has been described as the best right hand break in the world. A mere shuffle from 99 Miles are the breaks Phantoms and Kitchen Windows.  The latter is great for both beginners and pros.  Read more in our surfing section.
