Water sports

Port Elizabeth beachesClean beaches, warm water, calm conditions and gentle breezes make Port Elizabeth ideal for sailing, swimming, wind surfing, surfing, and other water sports. There are also several good scuba diving sites, ranging from shipwrecks to coral reefs.

Game viewing

Addo elephantsThere are a number of world-class game reserves within a short distance of PE. Visitors can view the Big 5 on day safaris to the Addo Elephant Park and the Shamwari Game Reserve. Schotia Game Reserve arranges night drives.

Seaview Lion Park

Lion cubsLion cubs are much cuter and cuddlier than adult lions. You can now pet lion cubs at the Seaview Lion Park, just 25km out of Port Elizabeth. The park also has giraffe, zebras, wildebeest, impala and other smaller game.

Sports events

St Georges Cricket OvalSt George's Park Cricket Oval hosts local and international cricket matches. A local brass band regularly entertain the crowd during games.
Telkom Park Football Stadium hosts local and international rugby matches.

Historical attractions

Donkin LighthouseThe Historic Donkin Heritage trail retraces the steps of the 1820 Settlers into the area. This 5km trail settlement visits 47 sites in the Old Hill area.

Parks

Prince Alfred MemorialPort Elizabeth has two large parks with beautiful landscaped gardens. St Georges Park is the of the Port Elizabeth Cricket Club, the oldest bowling green in South Africa, Prince Alfred's Guard Memorial and the 1882 Victorian Pearson Conservatory. Settler's Park is a tranquil spot in the city centre with an impressive collection of flora and fauna.
